The 2024 Nobel Prize in physiology or medication has been awarded to Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun “for the invention of microRNA and its function in post-transcriptional gene regulation.” 

The prize acknowledges the “discovery of a basic precept governing how gene exercise is regulated,” the Nobel Meeting on the Karolinska Institute in Sweden stated October 7 in a press launch.

Ambros, of the College of Massachusetts Chan Medical College in Worcester, and Ruvkun, of Harvard Medical College, will cut up the prize of 11 million Swedish kroner, or about $1 million.
